For every employer, it is regulated in “AFS 2001:1, Systematic work environment management” that the systematic work environment management shall be included as a natural part of the daily activities. The employer shall regularly examine working conditions and assess the risks that someone may suffer ill health or accidents at work.
According to SS-EN 50110 “Maintenance of electrical installations”, tools, equipment and devices: – which are acquired to enable maintenance of or work on or near electrical installations to be carried out safely, shall be appropriate, kept in good condition and used in the intended manner.
Note: “Maintained in good condition” means periodic visual inspection and electrical testing to check the electrical and mechanical characteristics both when required and after repair or modification (see“Instructions for periodic inspection ….”.pdf).

The person responsible for carrying out the check must be a person with sufficient knowledge to take responsibility and ensure that the equipment is in good condition. This person is appointed by the employer and can be someone in the organization or an external party (see“Instructions for periodic inspection ….”.pdf)

Devices exposed to short-circuit current shall be scrapped unless proper investigation, calculation and examination have shown that the effect has been so moderate that it has not had any adverse mechanical or thermal consequences. If there is any doubt that the device is not fault-free, the device must be scrapped (SS-EN 61230). If in doubt, contact the manufacturer.

There shall be a control mark on the equipment indicating who carried out the control and when it is to be carried out again or when the control was last carried out.

Earthing devices/insulation rods/voltage testers must bear information on the manufacturer, type and standard. If the standard designation is missing, the manufacturer should be contacted to verify that the device complies with the relevant standard.

Yes, MV-TAG and MX-TAG comply with the latest standards IEC 61243-1 2021.
Testers that you may have purchased previously from us complied with the standards in force at the time. However, these do not need to be replaced with the latest model as it is not a requirement to change equipment when a standard is revised.

We recommend at least once a year. Where equipment is subject to higher than normal wear, checks are carried out more frequently. Where the equipment is stored in a protected place and used only a few times a year, the check can be done at longer intervals. This should be determined by the company.
